2017 Educational Classes - Everyone Welcome

Garden Club member, Angelika Hedley will be holding the following educational seminars. 

Vegetable Gardening (3-part series):
June 10 from 11 am to noon at the Ladner Pioneer Library:

Preparation - Select the best site given your house orientation and needs. Then learn how to create and maintain in-ground, raised bed and container gardens.


June 17 from 11 am to noon at the Ladner Pioneer Library:

Planting -  Now that you have created your garden, learn which vegetables give the best payback for time and money spent.


June 24 from 11 am to noon at the Ladner Pioneer Library:

        Year-round harvest - Extend your growing and eating times into winter/spring. 


Putting your Garden to Bed for the Winter:

            Sept 16th from 11 am to noon at the Ladner Pioneer Library:

Much of what we are shown for garden cleanup is unnecessary. Learn best practices along with labour and time-saving tips to maintain your garden from fall through to spring

March 25 - Visit My Garden: pruning and transplanting demonstration
March 28 - Garden Design for Any Space Part 1 at Delta ElderCollege at KinVillage. 
April 1 - Ground Level: How to Convert Lawn into a Vegetable or Flower Garden. Free at the City of Langley Library, class begins at 2 pm and is one hour in length. 
April 4 - Garden Design for Any Space part 2 Delta ElderCollege at KinVillage. 
April 18 - Unique soil amender for sale prior to general meeting
April 20 - Skagit Valley tulip tour with lunch in La Conner
April 22 - Vegetable Gardening for Beginners: Rotation Plan and Tips. Free at the City of Langley Library, class beings at 2 pm and is one hour in length. 
April 23 - Perennial container workshop at Phoenix Perennials
May 5  - Tour of Northwest Stone and Landscape Supply, lunch at Mandeville Gardenworks, tour of Western Independent Greenhouse
June 25 - Garden Tour
July 22 -  Summer Potluck Picnic at a member's home whose garden was hosted in the 2017 Garden Tour

SEED SWAP
Bring your extra seeds to swap with others.  If you have too many seeds of one type, bring them along and trade them for other seeds.  Bring them in well marked envelopes.

VENDORS
There will be vendors of garden related items, seeds, and plants.

Our club will have a table there, so come by and say Hi! Pick up our updated Speaker's list and 2017 Garden Tour information.

2016 Club's Annual Plant Sale

WHEN         Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 9 am to 2 pm   FREE ENTRY

WHERE       The Patio of the Delta Hospital Residential Care Home Facility
                     5800 Mountain View Boulevard, Ladner (Delta Hospital grounds)
WHAT         A great selection of perennials grown by members of the club in our dedicated field garden, plant knowledge and care information, and refreshments.  See here for a list of plants that will be available and some basic information on each.
WHY             The Club supports speakers and community beautification projects through the proceeds of its annual sale.  Check out the article in the Delta Optimist

March 19th - Day trip by ferry and private bus transportation to Fraser's Thimble Farms on Salt Spring Island.
May 26th -  Private tour of fabulous East Vancouver home garden, followed by shopping at Figaro's Nursery, and lunch at Bosa's.
June 26th - Carpooling to the Point Roberts Garden Tour.
July 16th - Carpool to the Bowen Island Garden Tour.
July 23rd -  Summer potluck picnic at home of a member.
September 17th -  Guided tour of Paulik Park with the Richmond Garden Club park stewards.
December 6th - Christmas potluck party.
